Final report on Government Support to Cover Analyses of University of FloridaTraining Reactor Conversion from HEU to LEU Fuel

The University of Florida Training Reactor (UFTR), operated under NRC License R-56, is a light-water-cooled, graphite-and-light-water moderated, modified Argonaut-type reactor licensed to operate at steady-state power levels up to 100 kW. The UFTR is now tentatively scheduled to have its high-enriched (93%) uranium (HEU) materials test reactor plate-type fuel exchanged for low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel in late 2001 based upon commitments from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) (Lockheed Martin Idaho) University Reactor Fuel Assistance Program. This HEU to LEU conversion effort is intended to meet the regulatory requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) per Title 10, Part 50,64 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR 50.64).
