摘要

The equations of motion are derived for a piston in a closed end cylinder containing a compressible perfect gas. These equations include the possibility of an arbitrary motion imposed on the cylinder. In the analysis,it is assumed that there is a clearance between the piston and the cylinder which is sufficiently small so that the flow in the gap is controlled by viscous forces. Computer code OOPS was written which solves the derived equations of motion. Several cases are examined using the OOPS code.
