Impact of the 1973--1974Winter'S Fuel Shortage on Transportation Energy Use in the New York City Region.

A detailed analysis of the 1973-74winter's fuel shortage and its effect on vehicle usage in New York City are presented. The major impacts observed include reduced traffic volumes,carpooling and increased occupancy,tank topping and waiting in lines,reduced speeds,and shifts to more efficient vehicles.
