Operational Guideline: Tenax TA (R) Collection and In-Injection Port ThermalDesorption Analysis of Trace Levels of Organic Explosive Vapors

This procedure describes a method of preparing Tenax TA sorbent traps forcollecting vapor samples of trace levels of organic explosives and organics related to the production and decomposition of organic explosives. This procedure also describes a gas chromatographic method utilizing thermal desorption (TD) of Tenax TA sorption tubes within a split/splitless injection port, followed by gas chromatographic analysis using negative ion chemical ionization (GC/NICI) mass spectrometric detection.
