Dissolution of Stainless Steel by Molten Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys. FinalReport

摘要

The purpose of this task was to investigate on a laboratory-scale theinteractions of molten aluminum with stainless steel under hypothetical severe reactor accident conditions. This experimental effort provided data necessary to assess the susceptibility of the reactor vessel to breaching (general through-wall failure of vessel) in accident scenarios where contact of molten aluminum and stainless steel may occur. This report summarizes the results of the extensive experimental program.
