摘要

In this paper, we discuss the source characteristics of underdense radiators and present more of the supporting experimental data. First we will give an overview of previous x-ray source research and then discuss the physics of the underdense target heating. Because the dominant factors are not the same as for disks, the source characteristics impacting the multi-keV production are different. Characteristics addressed in this work include dependencies on the atomic number Z and density. An important figure of merit for X-ray sources is the conversion efficiency.
