Celebration of Chemistry in the 21st Century. Final Technical Report from May 1, 2000 to April 30, 2001

The American Chemical Society (ACS) held its 219th National Meeting in San Francisco, California March 26-30, 2000. During this meeting, a program known as 'A Celebration of Chemistry in the 21st Century' was held. This celebratory event focused on the impending changes in technology, the conduct of research, the global economy, and U.S. demographics. In addition, events designed to combat the negative public perception of chemistry and the hesitancy of children to consider careers in the physical sciences were included. Twenty-one speakers were given travel support to attend this symposium. As a result of this meeting, the American Chemical Society prepared a BOOK OF ABSTRACTS of all papers presented at its national meeting.
