Charmless B meson decays provide an opportunity to measure the weak-interaction phases arising from the elements of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark-mixing matrix and to search for phenomena outside the standard model, including charged Higgs bosons and supersymmetric particles.
