THE PREPARATION OF SMALL DENSE CRUCIBLES OF MAGNESIA

Methods are described for madding small magnesia crucibles possessing smooth, non-porous surfaces. Carbowas 4000 was the best temporary bend and lubricant of the many tested. Typical dies for pressing crucibles are shown and a small oxy-propane furnace is described for firing crucibles up to 1900℃.
