REPORT OF AN ORIENTATION STUDY ON ROLLED AND EXTRUDED RODS OF X -URANIUM

摘要

An orientation study with x-rays has been made of samples of rolled σ - uranium and extruded σ-uranium. The usual method of studying intensities due to one set of crystal planes while the sample is placed at different angular positions with respect to the x-ray beam could not be used because of low intensities and overlapping of diffraction lines. So, a new method was tried wherein a Geiger counter spectrometer trace was made of a transverse section of the rod, and another of a longitudinal section.
