APPLICATION OF PLASTIC BAGS AND SHEETING FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE ACROSS A CONTAMINATION BARRIER

The primary purpose in using plastic bags and sheeting for operation and maintenance across a contamination barrier is the elimination of "open air" ttransfers while transferring material to or from a contaminated" enclosure.nThe actual sealing operation when performed with di-electric sealing equip¬ment is accomplished within ten seconds or less. Effective seals are rou¬tinely obtained through as many as eight thicknesses of 0.012 inch Vinylite sheeting. Thus no time is lost in careful smoothing of the plastic prior to sealing. Portability of the di-electric sealing equipment within a radius of ten feet from the power unit has been achieved through equipment alterations which permit operation of the sealing bar at the end of a type 11 U coaxial cable ten feet in length.
