The data which we have obtained on the transmission of neutrons and gamma-rays through rectangular air slots are being reported in a series of ten preliminary reports. . This, the first of the series, describes the apparatus which was used in the investigation.nThese preliminary reports contain some simple analyses of the data. It is felt that the material warrants a more careful interpretation than has yet been attempted, We expect, therefore, to prepare a single document presenting the conclusions which may be drawn from the data presented in this series of reports.
