The dissolution of zirconium metal and the corrosion or several stainless steels were measured in both subunit acid and metric-hydrofluoric acid mixtures. Zirconium metal is readily dissolved in 90 per cent sulfuric acid at 100C or higher. Dissolution rates are high in 20 per cent pitric-3 per cent hydrofluoric acid mixtures at temperatures above 25C.
