Advantages of the S-PBI test for thyroid function appear as follows:n(i) Equally accurate with radioiodine pick-up and conversion ratio tests for hyperthyroids.n(ii) S-PBI test gives accurate indication of hypothyroidism whereas other tests give disappointing results (thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test excepted).n(iii) The S-PBI test seems to follow clinical symptoms more closely for patients under treatment with radioiodine, propylthiouracil and other therapy.
