The ordinary differential equations to which Schmidt and Beclcmann's boundary-layer equations may be reduced by Pohlhausen's2 method have been further transformed in suoh a manner as to exhibit clearly the nature of their solutions for either exceedingly large or exceedingly small Prandtl numbers.nThe limiting cases of infinite and of zero Prandtl number have been solved. The Nusselt number is proportional to the fourth root of the Grashof number. The constant of this proportionality is itself proportional to the fourth root of the Prandtl number when this is large and to the square root of the Prandtl number when this is small.
