CURRENT PROCEDURES FOR THE ANALYSIS OF UO3， UF4， AND UF6

The purity of uranium trioxide, uranium tetrafluoride, and uranium hexafluoride must approach atomic weight purity for use in the atomic energy field. Some contaminants, such as the high neutron absorbers boron, cadmium, and gadolinium, must be absent even to a high¬er degree than that required for atomic weight measurements. The de¬gree to which various impurities absorb neutrons is shown in Tables I and II. Other purity requirements are dictated by the requirements of the isotopic separation or the metallurgical processing.
