LOW FREQUENCY INDUCTION HEATING DESIGNnFOR THE ORGANIC MODERATED REACTOR EXPERIMENT

To provide a low cost and reliable electrical preheating system for the Organic Moderated Reactor Experiment, a 60-cycle induction heating system has been used. The low frequency induction design was based on analytical calculations for preheating carbon steel vessels and piping. Calculations involve the use of values obtained from magnetization curves and resistivity data for hollow cylindrical shapes. A critical analysis of the system's effectiveness is given.
