摘要

It is the purpose of this paper to consider the role the corrosion product film plays in the uniform penetration corrosion of aluminum bothnas the principal form of corrosion and as a prelude to intergranular attack.nThe effects of solution composition and alloy composition will also be considered.nOne purpose of this report is to present some of the Hanford corrosion data, which have been analyzed in greater detail and appear adequate to permit some speculation about the mechanism of the corrosion process. Another purpose of this report is to examine the relationship between the oxidation process in air and water. The rate laws associated with water and air oxidation and the kinetic constants derivable from the rates will be considered and compared.
