THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF AQUEOUS THORIA SUSPENSIONS

Experiments have been carried out to determine the thermal conductivity of suspensions of thoria in ordinary water at temperatures in the range 0-100 C and at concentrations between 0 and 20％ by volume. Three other systems, of similar concentration, have also been investigated at 30℃. On the basis of these measurements and on similar work by other investigators, expressions are suggested for the calculation of slurry conductivity from the conductivities of the constituent substances together with the volume concentration of solids.
