摘要

The ten binary and ten ternary melting point diagrams for the five unsubstituted compounds under consideration were determined experimentally.. They differed significantly from the calculated theoretical diagrams as a result of wide ranges of solid solubility. The experimentally determined eutectic melting points were higher than the calculated values. The vapor composition diagrams were calculated for all of these mixtures. Some data were also obtained for the four and five component systems.nAlthough some of the purely aromatic mixtures were liquid at 25 C or less, none of them satisfied the optimum coolant criteria with regard to the composition of the vapor phase.nA ternary mixture of monoisopropylbiphenyl, ortho-terphenyl, and meta-terphehyl was found to satisfy all the criteria for an optimum organic coolant. This mixture contains 30 weight per cent of monoisopropylbiphenyl and 70 weight per cent of a mixture of ortho-terphenyl and meta-terphenyl in a weight ratio of from 3.0/1 to 3. 5/1.
