The fundamental equations proposed in the literature to derive expressions to characterise the faradaic admittance have two possible sets of solutions. In one method of derivation, the solution obtained depends on the assumption made as to the phase angle of the faradaic alternating current with respect to the alternating potential. In another derivation, one or the other solution is obtained according to whether a cathodic current is regarded as positive or negative in sign.
