The gas sample is absorbed in sodium hydroxide and boron is separated by distillation as methyl borate and collection in a mixed glycerol/sodium hydroxide reagent. The distillate is evaporated to dryness and boron in the ignited residue is determined absorptiometrically using curcumin in the presence of oxalic an d hydrochloric acids.
