THE DEPOSITION OF FISSION PRODUCTS FROM DISTANT NUCLEAR TEST EXPLOSIONS RESULTS TO MID-1959

Collection of rainwater samples has continued at seven stations in the United Kingdom and at eighteen stations elsewhere. At Milford Haven (Pembrokeshire) and Abingdon (Berkshire) samples are collected at monthly intervals and are analysed for 89Sr, 90Sr and 137Cs. At the other stations samples are collected at three monthly intervals and analysed for 90Sr and 137Cs.nThe total deposition of 90Sr in the 12 months ending June, 1959 at Milford Haven was 7.1 mc/km2 compared with 3.6 mc/km 2in the previous 12 months.
