STRATOSPHERIC FALLOUT PARTICULARLY FROM THE RUSSIAN OCTOBER SERIES

Distribution or fallout rates from that due to equatorial explosions such as the United States and United Kingdom have fired. The Russian October series is estimated on the basis of assumptions previously described, to have added about 12„5 to 15 megatons equivalent of fission products to the stratosphere, whereas the previous inventory on the same basis was about 25 to 30 megatons equivalent so the Russian addition amounted to a sudden increase of about 50 percent and, as we shall see later, this on the basis of late information probably is low, the most likely figure being 80 percent.
