To investigate the possibility of applying the gas-shielded consumable-electrode process to the automatic butt welding of Croloy 2-1/4 piping for eventual adaptation to remotely controlled operation.nExperimental butt and sleeve welds have been made. Evaluation of quality has been limited to macro examination of weld cross sections and the determination of bend ductility.
