BRIQUETTED URANIUM TETRAFLUORIDE - MAGNESIUM BLEND FOR BATCH REDUCTION CHARGES

摘要

A production - scale operation using briquetted UF4-Mg blend as the charge in the reduction of UF4 to massive uranium metal was demonstrated to be feasible. Use of a briquetted charge (11％-inch-diameter briquettes) gave consistently high yields and increased reduction capacity. Thus, an economic advantage over the loose-charge process was demonstrated.
