Measurements were made of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of nitrogen-14 in Na2RuN0(N02)40H, RuN0(Cl)3(H20)2•3H20 and RuN0(N03)3(H20)2•xH20. The NMR spectra observed for Na2RuN0(N02)40H were interpreted to show that the nitrogen atom in each of two of the N02 groups was bonded differently from the nitrogen atoms in the other groups. The nitrato groups in RuN0(N03)3 (H20)2•xH20 were inferred to be equivalent and their nitrogen atoms to be bonded similarly to the nitrogen atoms in the nitrate ions in aqueous solutions of NH4NO3.
