The purpose of this study vas as follows:n(1) The development of rapid and accurate techniques for radioactive tracer studies of the algal pigments.n(2) The determination of the specific radioactivities of the chlorophylls and the carotenoids of algae. It was hoped to gain some insight into the problem of the relationship between chlorophyll a and b, and to look at the possible relationships which might exist between the carotenoids.
