摘要

The electromagnetic flowmeter measures the velocity of a fluid moving in a tube or pipe. By constraining the vessel in a sleeve, flow maybe measured directly. A magnetic field crosses the tube to the plane of the electrodes. As the ions in the fluid pass the magnetic field, a voltage is induced across the electrodes. This flowmeter is different from existing flowmeters because of the unique trapezoidal wave form that energizes the magnet. This thesis describes the trapezoidal-wave electromagnetic blood flowmeter and compares it with other types of electromagnetic flowmeter. Construction of the transducer elements is discussed. Calibration of the transducer element to measure blood flow in the dog is also discussed.
