摘要

In many ways uranium has surprised metallurgists by its peculiar behaviour, and its study presents numerous difficulties due to its high reactivity and marked anisotropy. In addition, it possesses several points of transformation which limit the regions of existence of the different a, P and y allotropes.* The a and (3 forms have complex structures of a kind not usually found in metals.nOne would think that the existence of these transformations would enable suitable thermal treatments to be considered for improving the mechanical or physical characteristics of this metal.
