Prototype CETR Fuel pellets (95% Th0p-U02, 93% of theoretical density) were irradiated 3 min in the ORE at power densities ranging from 16 to 160 Mw/metric ton Th. No fragmentation or cracking of the pellets occurred. Variations in the irradiation conditions had no effect on the rate of dissolution of the pellets in boiling 13 M HN03—0.04 M NaF—0.1 M Al(N03)3.
