摘要

The 200-Mw(e) nuclear superheater (NUSU) reactor described herein is of the integral type; i.e., the formation of steam and the superheating of this steam are both accomplished within a single reactor core Steam leaving the reactor is at 1200 psig and 1050°F. With feedwater returned to the reactor at 450°F, the gross cycle efficiency is estimated to be 38.6 per cent, requiring 518 Mw of heat from the reactor to produce 200 Mw of electricity.nSteam conditions of 1200 psig and 1050 F were established as objectives at the outset of the study which resulted in the NUSU design. Although a lower steam temperature would make technological problems easier, the gains from a smaller amount of superheat would be correspondingly reduced.
