The sample is admitted to the mass spectrometer and the beam heights of the appropriate individual mass numbers measured. Corrections are applied to compensate for the residual beam height and relative sensitivity of the mass spectrometer, together with the cracking pattern for each gas. The constituent molar concentrations are then calculated.
