LAYOUT PRINCIPLES OF MAIN PLANT BUILDING

The fuel receiving and storage facilities comprise an unloading and storage area for containers, which is served by a gantry crane of 80 tons capacity, a leak testing and a container-decontamination facility, which is also served by crane, and a group of ponds for unloading, mechanical handling, and storage of fuel elements. The ponds are connected with the head end of the process building by a charging canal. At the end of this charging canal the fuel elements will be lifted and brought to a special cell for mechanical treatment. This cell is located adjacent to the group of dissolver cells. Because of the very high ground-water level, the whole building is arranged above ground.
