摘要

A simplified and rapid modification of the pentabromoacetone method for the determination of citric acid in biological fluids is described. Protein precipitation is effected with trichloroacetic acid. To facilitate pupating steps, combined sulfuric acid-metaphosphoric acid and potassium bromide-potassium permanganate reagents are utilized. After extraction of pentabromoacetone into heptanes, sodium iodide in absolute ethanol is added for color development. Absorbance measurements of the released iodine complex are made at 36O mu in a single phase solution without need for further extraction.
