TEMPERATURE EFFECTS ON THE RADIATION INDUCED REACTION OF CARBON DIOXIDE WITH GRAPHITE

The radiation induced reaction of carbon dioxide with graphite has been studied over the temperature range 100°C to 650°C.nBelow 600°C temperature has little effect on the rate of production of carbon monoxide, the variation in rate being approximately 2 over the range 100°C to 600°C.nAt 650°C an increased rate is observed, suggesting that thermal decomposition of surface oxide is taking place.
