The sample, together with added strontium carrier, is evaporated in the presence of nitric acid, ached and the residue dissolved in acid. The strontium, together with the calcium naturally present, is precipitated as phosphate. The separated strontium is purified and separated from calcium, being finally precipitated as carbonate, mounted and theβ-activity measured with a Geiger-Muller tube. Yttrium-90 is allowed to grow in, separated and its activity measured.
