摘要

Equations have been derived for the prediction of dimensional changes and stresses in thick walled hollow cylindrical uranium fuel element cores during thermal neutron irradi¬ation. The equations provide a means for combining discrete preferred orientation data obtained from a finite series of X-ray diffraction measurements. A comparison of cal¬culated stresses with the creep strength of uranium should determine whether a plastic solution is necessary.
