The results of the various total diet studies listed previously have been summarized in Table 30. The data reported on individual foods are only considered as reinforcing information or have been included in com¬piling total diets,nDespite the differences in approach to total diet estimates, it is apparent that the data have a high degree of consistency. Although the differences are not of biological significance, there is an indication of a time trend in that the 1959 values are higher than the 1958 values and that there has been a noticeable drop in I960. If this is confirmed, it is en¬couraging in that it indicates that the fluctuations in dietary intake are more a function of fallout deposition rate than accumulation. This would lead to the conclusion that the levels will stabilize in the next year or two, then diminish with time.
