FINITE SEPARATION RATIO IN ELECTROSTATIC VELOCITY SEPARATOR DESIGN

The phase space theory of electrostatic velocity separators is extended to cover cases where several beam widths of separation are provided at the selecting slit. Data is derived for (p-,x-) and (K- , π-) systems, typifying stable and unstable wanted particles. In the stable case, these studies yield practical design estimates, but the investigation is not yet complete for unstable particles.
