A series of measurements have been completed at Beam Hole HB-2 of the ORR, for use in designing a movable personnel and instrument shield for the ORR South Facility. They include thermal and fast-neutron spectra, both unattenuated and behind selected shield con¬figurations, and fast-neutron and gamma dose rates behind about 38 configurations. Materials used for the shield mockups included lead, iron, borated polyethylene, polyethylene and concrete. An attempt was also made to measure the intensity of the scattered radiation from these configurations. Despite experimental complications, some general conclusions have been drawn from the latter experiments.
