Approximately 60 organonitrogen compounds were tested for their ability to extract uranium from acidic sulfate solution. Those showing significant extraction power were tested with respect to other pertinent extraction charac teristics, including solubility loss to aqueous liquors, selectivity for uranium, and compatibility with molybdenum liquors. As in previous studies, the simple amines were most useful, a number of the primary, secondary, and tertiary amines showing promise as practicable process extractants.
