A STUDY OF SEVERAL METALS AS REDUCTANTS FOR YTTRIUM FLUORIDE

A study was made in which several metals were used to reduce YF3 in a metallothermic process. The effective¬ness of these reducing agents was compared to that of calcium metal as a reluctant for YF3 Lithium metal and a Ca-Li alloy were found to be efficient resultants when used in an intermediate alloy process.
