The amount of thermal neutron absorber, commonly referred to as poison, necessary to reduce the value of k∞ of these systems to unity was also obtained directly from these studies. This value is of interest for processing reactor fuels in which soluble poisons would be used for criticality control.nCurves of the value of k as a function of the H:U atomic ratio for 3.04 weight per centU235 enriched UO3 and UO (NO3)2 are shown. The curve of k∞ versus H;U is determined by a least squares fit to the experi¬mental data.nValues of the amount of thermal poison necessary to reduce k∞ to unity as a function of the H:U ratio are tabulated.
