A LITERATURE SURVEY ON RADIATION INDUCED POLYMERISATION IN THE SOLID STATE

The report is a survey of the literature relating to radiation induced solid state polymerisation published up to February 1962. Particular interest is directed to the relatively few monomers which have been found to yield stereospecific polymers.nFollowing a brief account of the history of chemical and radiation initiated solid state polymerisations, the report discusses the various experimental conditions, mechanisms and the determination of polymerisation rates.nOver twenty monomers are reported to polymerise in the solid state and each of these is considered separately in the second half of the report.
