The rotary extractor has been investigated both from the point of view of mechanism of operation and from the point of view of utility for the extraction of uranium.nIt has been shown that there is a hyperbolic relationship between h/d and d/R1 (where R1 is the radius of the rotor, d is the width of the annulus, and h is the height of a single vortex). The height of equivalent theoretical stage (H.E.T.S.) varies as the cube root of the cross sectional area (hd) of the vortices and combination of these two relationships gives an expression for the H.E.T.S..
