摘要

A resin has been synthesized which has the unique feature of possessing both ion exchange and scintillating properties. Cationic species of radioactive nuclides are readily adsorbed from aqueous solution in a manner similar to that of conventional ion exchange resins. Radioactive emanations from the captured nuclides result in the excitation of resin phosphors. The emitted light is of a wave length that effectively activates a photomultiplier tube of an S-ll or -13 response. Thus, radioactive isotopes can readily be counted by coupling the resin on which they are adsorbed to a photomultiplier tube and pulse counter.
