摘要

The study of the metabolism* of the different radioisotopes in the organism is thus extremely important in radio toxicology. The determination of hazardous and fatal doses of a radioactive element and the evaluation of the type and the relative importance of certain affections (leukemia’s, cancers, shortening of the life span, genetic damage) that may occur sooner or later after radioactive poisoning are only one aspect of the problem. Actually, only knowledge of the metabolism of a radioactive element makes it possible to foresee the consequences of radioactive poisoning and give us the necessary basis for a rational attempt at therapy.nThe study of the metabolism of the majority of the stable elements was mainly carried out before their radioisotopes became known.
