Hardly any purpose would be served by going into a detailed discussion of either the tremendous significance of research in photosynthesis for both science and practical experience, or the thoroughgoing revolution in power and economic activities which this research promises mankind in the future, as soon as plants are made to significantly increase their recovery of sunlight and practical possibilities are discovered of storing solar radiant energy, outside of organisms, in the form of certain stable compounds which are suitable for future utilizationnMany difficulties still lie along the path toward attaining these go also But the prodigious advances which have been made in the study of photosynthesis during the last ten=year period, chiefly due to the application of both radioactive and stable isotopes.
