A NUMERICAL SOLUTION FOR HATE BENDING PROBLEMS

A method is presented for obtaining the deflections of a thin elastic plate due to a transverse load and a combination of four boundary conditions including elastic supports. The method, based on finite differences, makes efficient use of the digital com¬puter in solving for the irregular boundary shapes often encountered in engineering design. Results are compared with known solutions and a new solution is presented.
